Episode 32: The End For Wenger?

March 8, 2017

Recorded during Arsenal's Champions League exit to Bayern Munich, there is, naturally, a heavy Arsenal theme to this week's MTM podcast. It really does feel like the end for Arsene Wenger and we have our say on the loss to Liverpool at the weekend and the state of Arsenal football club in general.

All the other weekend games are discussed.

It is also the end for The Bard of Exeter! From next week his term as Bard will be over and, as he is unable to run for a second term, he will merely be Rob Casey. No matter, he'll still be churning out corkers for us, like this week's Arthur Askey themed offering.

There's some good news for all you football loving fatties out there and plenty more, so download and enjoy the show!

Episode 31: Cup Stolen From Saints by Red Devils and a Linesman

February 28, 2017

Southampton were so close to winning only their second major trophy but Manchester United snatched it away from them with the help of Zlatan and a linesman. We discuss this game and all the Premier League fixtures from the weekend.

A little late, but we have our say on Ranieri's sacking and Sutton's pie scandal.

The poem, Millwall Minute and Exeter Second are all here, as is an EFL Cup themed quiz.

Mini Mid Table Matters Podcast

February 21, 2017

There's no full episode today, but so you don't suffer MTM withdrawal here's a mini FA Cup round up to keep you going. We'll be back to normal next week. Till then...

Episode 30: Rivals Make Ground On Chelsea, But Is It Too Little Too Late?

February 14, 2017

Four of the five teams that could conceivably catch Chelsea in the title race made up points against the leaders as they were held to a draw by Burnley. We discuss all the games from the weekend and look ahead to Chelsea's remaining fixtures to see where they might drop points.

Ben is away on a week long birthday bender so Rob stands in again and provides us with our very own Mid Table Matters themed quiz, and, because Ben has been in no fit state to provide the traditional absentee's poem, we have a very special substitute for the substitute - Ben's Dad!

There's the usual Millwall Minute and Exeter Second, and Rob introduces us to the Wealdstone Raider. If you want some, 'e'll give it ya.

Episode 29: Chelsea Crush Arsenal and Hull Humiliate Liverpool

February 8, 2017

This week, Paul is too overcome by Chelsea's win over Arsenal to do a podcast, so Rob, the Bard of Exeter stands in. Consequently, without Paul's technical wizardry, this episode has had to be recorded using paper cups connected with string, and a potato. If the audio quality is a little sub-par, we apologise and promise things shall be back to normal next week.

All the weekend's action is dissected, as Liverpool's crisis deepens, Arsenal play like small boys against the big men of Chelsea, and Southampton struggle against the Hammers.

As is now traditional, the absentee (Paul) provides this weeks poem, there's a Millwall Minute, an Exeter Second, and Rob shames himself with a poor showing in the Blockbusters themed quiz. And for the first time ever a woman gets herself on the show!

Episode 28: Wenger’s Boys Wobble as Watford Win

February 3, 2017

A round of midweek Premier League matches saw all of the top 4 (and Manchester United) drop points, and the bottom 4 pick up crucial and somewhat unexpected points, so there's lots to discuss on this week's MTM.

As ever we have a poem, a Millwall Minute and an Exeter Second. We discover Nigel Farage has a surprising admirer and choose what dance we would perform if we were to score 100 Premier League goals.

Episode 27: Clement Conquers Klopp

January 24, 2017

On this week's podcast we start with Liverpool's loss to Swansea and discuss whether Klopp's team are in crisis!

Ten man Arsenal beat Burnley with a dramatic 98th minute winner, Chelsea keep on winning and City and Spurs play out a controversial, but entertaining draw.

All the rest of the action is addressed and we have the usual fan favourites, such as the Millwall Minute, the Exeter second, The Bard's poem and a very topical quiz.

Episode 26: Manchester Vs Merseyside

January 18, 2017

After an unplanned week off, MTM is back to discuss the best team on Merseyside's win over troubled looking Guardiola's Man City team and another draw between fierce rivals United and Liverpool.

An Iwobi inspired Arsenal heap more misery on the Swans and Chelsea and West Ham look better without their sulky stars.

There's all the usual extras; the Millwall Minute, Exeter Second, Poem and quiz, and at the very end, a little treat for all those who remember Saturday morning children's telly with fondness. So, join in and swing your pants.

FA Cup Round Up and An Apology

January 10, 2017

Wow, the magic of the FA Cup, eh?! Mighty Millwall beat a Bournemouth B team and... err... well, that was about it. So, who better to provide your FA Cup round up than the friendly face of Millwall fans, Ben from Mid Table Matters? Unfortunately, this is a very brief podcast this week because we're all busy looking after old people and saving the planet from harmless natural gasses, so after a quick overview, we have a heartfelt audio apology and leave you desperate for more, which will surely come next week as we get back to our normal schedule. Till then!

Episode 25: Gir-oooh! And Festive Fixtures

January 4, 2017

Happy New Year everyone!

In the first MTM of 2017 we look back at the festive fixtures in the Premier League and join the rest of the world in giving some love to THAT goal. Wow! The Bard provides some League 2 analysis in his Exeter second, there's a Millwall Minute and, instead of a quiz, we pick our best XIs of 2016. Feel free to tell us in the comments how wrong our selections are.
